PACT upholstery spray adhesive in a 550 ml aerosol can with orange cap, for fabric, leather, foam and board

Upholstery spray adhesive addresses one of the most persistent challenges in soft furnishing production: bonding foam cushion materials to fabric, vinyl, or leather covers without causing staining, bleed-through, or stiffening of the finished product. The adhesive is formulated with an SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) synthetic rubber base that cures to a permanently flexible film. This flexibility is essential because upholstery bonds must withstand repeated compression and recovery cycles as users sit, lean, and shift on furniture surfaces over years of daily use.

The spray pattern technology in our aerosol formulation is critical to achieving even coverage without excess adhesive buildup. The adjustable nozzle produces either a fine mist spray for broad, thin coverage on large panels or a concentrated web spray for targeted application on edges and contours. Consistent spray atomization ensures the adhesive lands as a uniform micro-droplet layer rather than pooling or running, which is particularly important when bonding light-colored or thin fabrics where any adhesive irregularity becomes visible from the face side. Our non-staining formulation has been tested on white and cream cotton, linen, and polyester fabrics with no visible bleed-through or discoloration.

For high-volume sofa and mattress factories, the bulk 20L drum format provides significant cost advantages over aerosol cans. Applied through industrial spray guns with adjustable fan width and flow rate, the bulk format covers larger surfaces more efficiently and reduces per-unit adhesive cost by 30-40 percent compared to aerosol application. The aerosol format remains ideal for smaller workshops, repair operations, and touch-up work on finished pieces where portability and instant readiness are priorities.

Indicative values for the series. Figures move with the grade, the substrate pair, coat weight and cure conditions, so treat them as a basis for comparison rather than a specification — the technical data sheet for the grade you are supplied states the values that apply to it, and the conditions they were measured under.

Applications

  • Sofa and couch manufacturing — foam cushion to fabric/leather bonding
  • Chair upholstery — seat pad and backrest assembly
  • Mattress production — foam layer lamination and cover attachment
  • Automotive seating — foam-to-fabric and trim bonding
  • Marine and RV upholstery — weather-resistant bonding

Available Packaging

Upholstery spray adhesive is available in 450ml, 550ml, and 650ml aerosol cans with adjustable spray nozzles, and in 20L drums for industrial spray gun application. Aerosol cans use CFC-free propellant (DME/LPG blend). Private label services include custom can design, label printing, nozzle selection, and branded outer cartons. Minimum order for OEM aerosol is 5,000 cans.

Water-based option

Could this job run water-based?

Foam-to-fabric is a workable candidate: the foam side is open and takes up part of the water. It is also the application where large spray areas make solvent extraction and destination-market VOC limits most expensive to live with.

The fabric side decides it
An open fabric behaves like the foam. A coated or laminated face does not, and that joint has to be trialled separately rather than assumed from a foam result.
Strike-through and line speed
Drying is slower, so the window between spray and lay-up changes. Check strike-through on your own covers at the coat weight you would actually run.
Heat and humidity in service
Ageing resistance has to be re-tested on your own parts. No fixed percentage of solvent-based performance holds across applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is your upholstery spray adhesive suitable for foam bonding?
Yes, our upholstery spray adhesive is specifically formulated for foam-to-fabric, foam-to-foam, and foam-to-wood bonding. It maintains flexibility after curing, which is essential for foam applications where the bond must accommodate compression and recovery cycles.
Will the spray adhesive stain or bleed through fabric?
Our upholstery spray adhesive uses a non-staining formula that does not bleed through or discolor light-colored fabrics. For extra-thin or delicate fabrics, we recommend applying adhesive to the foam side only and allowing it to become tacky before pressing the fabric into place.
What spray format is best for sofa factories?
For high-volume sofa production, we recommend the 20L bulk drum format with industrial spray guns for lower per-unit cost and consistent application. Aerosol cans (550ml) are ideal for touch-up work, smaller workshops, and operations bonding fewer than 20 units per day.
Can you produce custom-branded aerosol spray adhesive?
Yes, we offer full OEM services including custom can labels, brand printing, nozzle selection, and packaging design. MOQ for private label aerosol spray adhesive is 5,000 cans. We provide pre-production samples for approval.
